what is the role of a temporary supervisor?
All children's services staff, in every type of children's service, must be aware of their obligations as mandatory reporters and must have completed the required training. For detailed information on these requirements and the relevant legislation, see DoCS Mandatory reporters page.
Services are not required to havea temporary supervisor, but if they choose to have one, the role of the temporary supervsior is to act on behalf of the authorised supervisor during the authorised supervisor’s illness or absence.
During this period, the temporary supervisor assumes all the functions and roles of the authorised supervisor, but the authorised supervisor retains the responsibilities of the position.

If you wish to have a temporary supervisor, you need to write to DoCS and request to have a temporary supervisor and give the person's name.
It is the responsibility of the licensee to ensure that at any time that the authorised supervisor is absent there is a person in charge at the service; regardless of whether this person is called the temporary supervisor or given another title.
The next page explains how you change an authorised supervisor.
