adoption

Adoption is the legal process which permanently transfers all the legal rights and responsibilities of being a parent from the child's birth parents to the adoptive parents.
Adoption and Permanent Care Services provides adoption services for birth parents who are considering adoption for their child, as well as for people who want to adopt a child from NSW or overseas.
The Adoption Information Unit offers a range of services about past adoptions for:
- adopted people who want to find out about their adoption and/or search for birth relatives
- birth parents (of an adopted person) who want to find out about their child and/or search for their child
- people who have a family connection to an adoption and wish to make inquiries
