locally initiated training
Training provided by the NGO Training Program is generally delivered through the short course calendar.
In addition, any of the courses included in the NGO Training Program short course calendar can be run locally.
The restrictions for locally initiated training are that the course must not be already scheduled in the calendar for at least three months at a location within 100 kilometres of your area.
The steps are:
- a local person (they can be anyone that works within or in partnership with DoCS funded services, including CPO/CSA’s) takes on the local contact person role and gathers information and interest
- The locally initiated training request forms are then completed and forwarded to DoCS NGO Training Program
- DoCS NGO Training Program is responsible for contracting the instuctors, venue hire, manual production etc and advises the local contact person and individual participants of training date and venue
- training is delivered in the local community
The timeframe from once the information is received at the DoCS NGO Training Program is approximately 5 – 7 weeks. This is largely determined by venue and trainer availability. If the proposed dates are not available, the DoCS NGO Training Program will make contact with the local contact person to arrange other suitable dates.
