DoCS NGO Training Program

DoCS' Non Government Organisations Training Program offers learning and development opportunities for staff and volunteers from DoCS funded non-government organisations (NGOs).

Through the program, funded services can register for accredited and non-accredited training at regional venues across NSW, free of charge. The courses aim to meet regional needs identified by DoCS and DoCS funded agencies.

In particular, the NGO Training Program aims to assist DoCS funded agencies to:

  • keep pace with changes and developments in DoCS Policy
  • strengthen their organisational capacity, particularly around governance and financial management
  • develop their skills and knowledge to meet their obligations under service agreements and the Good Practice Guidelines

services provided by the NGO Training Program

  • short courses - over 20 different 1 to 3 day courses offered across the state, includes a range of child protection courses.
  • pathways – access to other training - opportunities to attend training with other training organisations at no charge – DoCS NGO Training Program will meet the costs.
  • locally initiated training (LIT) - if there is a training need in your area that is not being met in the short course calendar, you can request that the course be presented locally.

If you are working for a DoCS-funded service, you may be eligible to attend a course. Our online training calendar shows the courses available in your region.

Make sure you check how to enrol for a step by step guide to nominating and registering for courses, and see the course attendance policy and procedures.

The NGO Training Program also includes a range of child protection related courses in its short course calendar that are available to staff and volunteers from all DoCS funded services.
