reporting
Community Services has been progressively reviewing the data requirements for children’s services to bring them into line with funding reform objectives and the new preschool funding model.
As part of this, a system for entering data via the internet was introduced in 2008.
The web-based format has been very successful however; further changes have been made to improve upon the web based format and to assist in reports on achievements under the National Partnerships on Early Childhood Education.
In 2011, preschool and vacation care service providers will report online, long day care, occasional care and early childhood services will NO longer be required to report.
The representative fortnight is 1 - 12 August 2011.
All data is to be submitted by 26 August 2011.
online reporting
This year, there is one method for online reporting only.
online reporting tool for preschools
Preschools must use the online reporting tool to report.
A user guide has been developed to assist services to complete the online reporting tool.
Multi-purpose services with preschool places are to enter preschool data in the online data collection tool.
Data for any long day care or occasional care places will not be collected in the August 2011 representative fortnight.

accountability
The data collected through this reporting process will be used to meet Community Services and the Government’s reporting commitments and to assist with the evaluation and the planning of service provision.
These performance monitoring and financial reporting requirements are outlined in the service agreement.
For preschools, this data will also be used to determine funding for next year so it is important that correct data is entered.
