FACS 2015 Progress Report in response to the NSW Ombudsman’s Special Report, Review of the NSW Child Protection System: Are things improving?
NSW Ombudsman Special Report Review of the NSW Child Protection System: Are things improving? 2015 Progress Report In April 2014 the NSW Ombudsman released his special report, Review of the NSW Child Protection System: Are things improving? This report is a follow up to the Ombudsman’s report, Keep Them Safe? released in 2011.
The report highlights Family and Community Services (FACS) performance improvements over the past two years and discusses a range of issues about the child protection system. These include enhancements to FACS IT systems, sharing responsibility for responding to vulnerable adolescents and educational neglect, and improving the quality of child protection work.
The report makes seven recommendations. One of these is that FACS report publicly every 12 months on its progress in implementing the report’s recommendations.
This is FACS first annual response about our work to progress the report’s recommendations. For more information read the 2015 Progress Report.
