costing manual
A costing manual has been developed to help non-government organisations determine the indicative unit costs for a range of child and family services. This allows organisations to improve their understanding of cost structures and drivers and to develop agreed costing principles for funding new and existing programs.
The indicative costings provided in the costing manual are based on data obtained from a range of organisations and a number of assumptions, as outlined in the individual estimates. It is important for individual services to develop their own cost estimates using the tools and job aids provided to gain a better understanding of their costs and cost drivers.
To help you develop your unit costs, the costing manual is supplemented by costing tools and job aids that contain detailed instructions on using them.
There are separate tools for each service type below.
All costing manuals have been updated to 2008/09 dollars.
For a summary of the costing manual project, see the fact sheet.
